Communities
Learn how to create, maintain, join, and publish to a community.
About communities
Communities in eHive are a great way to bring together object records that share a common theme. For example, a particular artist, museums in a certain region, or archaeological finds from a specific site.
Any eHive account holder can create a community. Once your community is established, other account holders can join and contribute their object records.
Create a community

Log in to My eHive.

Select Settings in the menu.

Select Communities.

Select Establish a community.

Enter a Name, a Description and any Terms and conditions.

If you want to approve or decline requests from people to join the community, select Community membership by approval. Requests will be emailed to admin users.

Select Save.

On the Maintain community page for your new community, under Community profile image, add an image.
Maintain a community

Select Settings in the menu.

Select Communities.

Next to the community, select Maintain.

On the Maintain community page, you can:

Manage community membership

Create a community administration report

Change community details
-
Change the community profile image
-
Change the community moderator

Join a community
-
Select Settings in the menu.

Select Communities.

Under Find a community, search for a community.

On the results page, select Join for any community you want to join.
The moderator of the community may need to approve your request to join. You will receive an email when the moderator has approved your request.
Add a record to a community

Go to the record.

Under the section about communities for the object, select Update.

Under Publishing options for communities, select the community.

Select Save.
Publish records to a community by default
You can set a community as a default publishing location. When you save a record, the community will be ticked.

Select Settings from the menu.

Select Communities.
-
Next to the community, select Edit.

Next to Publishing Default, select Include as a default publishing location.

Select Save.
Leave a community
All of your contributed objects will be removed from a community when you leave it.

Select Settings in the menu.

Select Communities.

Next to the community, select Leave.

On the Leave community confirmation page, select Submit.
