Images are not correctly rotated

eHive images are orientation aware. This means that if an image file has metadata in it that says the picture was taken with the camera orientated differently to normal, then the software will rotate the image automatically to compensate when it is displayed. Most modern software, especially imaging software, is orientation aware.

Image software that is not orientation aware may likely show pictures taken from cameras orientated incorrectly. Manually rotating and re-saving the image using software that is not orientation aware (eg Office 2010 Picture Manager) may not work.

JPEG Autorotate is a tool that can be installed on Windows Explorer to Auto-rotate all files in a folder, according to the orientation tag metadata. This will store the image data accordingly, then reset the orientation tag. This tool can be used to normalise pictures after importing them from a camera.

The JPEG Autorotate installer can be downloaded here. Once installed, right-click on the folder that contains your images and choose one of the Autorotate options in the menu.
