Location fields
You can record an object's location by using the Location History fields on the Detail Fields tab of the Create screen. Add the location to the Location History field, and eHive will ask you if you'd like to update the Current Location field too.
Each object in your collection may have been in multiple locations over time. There are two sections for location information in the eHive Detail tab. The eHive Location History fields allow you to record multiple sets of location details, with a separate field in which to note the current location.
Location History
The Location History section allows you to enter detailed Location information.
Use this section if you wish to enter more information about when an object was in a location, such as the date the object was in the location or general notes.
You can record the details of multiple locations by clicking the 'Add another Set' button at the bottom of the Location History section. This allows you to store details of location changes over time. You can use the 'Reorder' buttons to arrange the Location sets so they appear in chronological order.
Current Location
Location information can be entered into the Current Location field in two ways:
-
You can choose to manually enter data into this field.
or
-
You can choose to update the Current Location from the data you have entered in the Location History section.
Calculating the Current Location
eHive does not automatically calculate the object's current location. When you enter a new set of location history details in the Location History section, you must decide if the new location (in the Location History term list field) should also update the Current Location field.
You will be prompted: 'Do you want to update the Current Location?'
If the location you have entered is the current location of the object, then choose 'Yes' to update the Current Location field.
